Spring Mobility Cleaning

It’s officially Spring!!! No matter where you live, the weather is starting to improve and the desire to go outside and live life is churning and burning! Before you shed those heavy jackets, beanies, and UGG boots (do people still wear these?), let's first do a little spring mobility cleaning for those joints. Just think of mobility training as your magic eraser for your joints.

For most of the population, the last few months have been spent hibernating inside. Workouts were fewer and farther between than usual, which means our joints have become stiff and weak. Lack of movement means our joints aren’t receiving the necessary blood flow they require. If you try to go outside and do everything physical humanly possible, bad things are inevitably about to happen.

Set yourself up for movement success and clean off those cobwebs with my top 3 mobility exercises that will do a little spring cleaning on those joints. The best part is, you don’t need any equipment so you can do them outside in the sunshine!

When to do them:

The great thing about mobility training is you can do them when it works for you. An exercise only takes a couple of minutes and can be sprinkled throughout the day so you have options. Here are a few ideas:

  • First in the morning

  • Right before your workout or activity

  • Before you go to bed

How many to do:

You simply can’t do enough of these but if you’re just starting out and crunched for time, 5 reps each direction on each side is enough to get you moving and grooving. How awesome is that?

WANT EVEN MORE?

The exercises are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the simple ways you can incorporate mobility training into your day. We now offer online mobility workouts specifically designed to complement what you’re already doing. Plus you can do them anytime, anywhere and no gym required. Yep, that’s right you can do them outside and soak up all of that wonderful Vitamin D sunshine! Start being proactive with your joints so you don’t spend all summer long sitting on the sidelines!
